PDM 2007 gets a kick-start at the summer school

Braving the January heat, more than 300 students on this year’s PDM course gathered at the Stellenbosch University campus for the 2007 summer school. During the five days of the summer school, students had lectures, listened to speeches and received administrative information in order to prepare them for the year ahead.

Lecturers gave the students a taste of what to expect in their courses and the assignments. Several experts added value by talking about the very real possibilities of making a difference in the world of work and in the community with respect to HIV/AIDS.

In addition to the talks, the students had to learn how to use the training platform WebCT, and they also received information about the structure of the course, the modules and assignments.
But the summer was not all work and no play. There were several relaxing and entertaining activities, such as attending an educational theatre performance of Lucky The Hero!, the welcoming cocktail function as well as a braai. That may just be the secret in making a success of the whole PDM course – a good balance of work and fun!
